After this winter’s massacre of every cactus seedling I planted last spring, I needed a new plan for transplanting. The bonsai pot didn’t work out. I think the cactus pups need an opportunity to become more root-bound in the warm season, so transplanted my cactus seedlings to 2oz solo cups.
One year after sewing my first cactus seeds, all the seedlings are dead. I killed them one at a time this winter. Too little water, and they shrivel. Water them and they rot.
There is one survivor – the grafted cactus. It hasn’t grown larger, but it’s still alive!
